Recently, food and beverage famous brand Nestlé announced that it has invested in a 326MW solar project owned and developed by Enel North America.
The project, called Stampede, is planned to be installed on 2,600 acres of land in Hopkins County, Texas. The solar facility also includes plans for an 86MW battery energy storage system.
Nestlé will purchase 100% renewable electricity generated by the project's energy production, estimated to average more than 522,000MWh per year over 15 years. The estimated annual reduction in carbon emissions is estimated to be 279,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to removing approximately 66,000 cars from the road each year.
"Our investment in Stampede brings us close to achieving our ambition to purchase 100% renewable electricity at all manufacturing sites by 2025," said Kate Short, chief procurement officer of Nestlé North America. "Building on previous solar investments, Stampede helps further reduce carbon emissions in our operations and expand the availability of renewable energy - the project adds enough solar power to the U.S. grid to power approximately 49,000 homes per year."
It is reported that the 326MW Stampede project is the company's third large-scale solar project investment in the United States, following investments in the Ganado solar project in 2023 and the Taygete I solar project in 2020.
